Writing Workshop

To help the sixth graders develop their writing skills, I developed instruction and practice materials for a writing workshop that I facilitated in English class. Topics included English capitalization and punctuation rules, transition words and phrases, word choice and descriptive use of adjectives and adverbs. This was in order to develop their writing skills in English, as to help them in the written portion of their Cambridge PET and KET exams and in the future as speakers of English.

Taboo Game

Facilitated games of 'Taboo' with the sixth graders to help them practice speaking skills in preparation for the Cambridge external exams. Specifically this activity was geared to help them develop the skill of circumlocution to aid them on the exam's speaking section as well as to help them develop speaking skills in English in an interactive and engaging manner.

Cambridge Exam Tips and Tricks

A list of advice for students taking the PET and KET exams, including sections on recommendations for before and during each section of the exam as well as what test-takers should not do. Information taken from Cambridge's Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page in order to clarify test procedure and reduce anxiety in the students.

Cambridge Practice Exam Score Tracker

A tracker sheet to facilitate student tracking of their scores for Cambridge Exam Listening and Speaking practice. Students can keep a record of their progress and see how they've improved over the course of time on practice activities in order to motivate them.

Storytelling Dice Activity
An activity to develop and practice speaking skills, including fluency and confidence. Students completed a small group storytelling activity using the images on the dice as inspiration. The activity was implemented in order to facilitate the practice of oral English skills in a creative and engaging setting, as well as to facilitate group interaction.
